We have now gone to mod activated accounts. After you register successfully, your account is held in a holding area until a mod approves it. There is a way around that for paying members, so the spam posters now have to pay to post their spam.....

Sure - and as the site grows, the mods will have that as a duty. If you allow free email addresses (and we currently do) and self managed user account activation, there is going to be spam, which has only gotten worse over the years. Here in the General Discussions I would envision having several communities of interest. This would be one of those communities. I propose a forum "The Armed Citizen" for the discussion of carry permits, defense ammo, courses, equipment and so to cover the topics you list. Is this acceptable to you?

This will probably be a quarterly occurrence. A new version of the board software has been released and installed, which also involves a database restructure. I hope this also solves a couple of issues with logins and features.

I still want to allow the use of free email services, but that comes with some risks of dealing with user accounts that will have a short stay. Any old 2adefenders.net cookies and the site likes browsers to be set for https only connections, but that may impact other browsing at other sites.
