Senate Approves Anit-Gun Deal

Post by motown_steve » ... 180c6e432b
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate bargainers reached agreement Tuesday on a bipartisan gun violence bill, potentially teeing up final passage by week’s end on an incremental but landmark package that would stand as Congress’ response to mass shootings in Texas and New York that shook the nation.

Lawmakers released the 80-page bill nine days after agreeing to a framework for the plan and 29 years after Congress last enacted major firearms curbs. It cleared an initial procedural hurdle by 64-34, with 14 Republicans joining all 48 Democrats and two allied independents in voting yes. That strongly supported a prediction by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., of approval later this week. Passage by the Democratic-led House could follow quickly.
The Left, and our Republican Defenders of Freedom and Liberty have joined forces to take another chunk out of our God Given freedoms.
Aides estimated the measure would cost around $15 billion, which Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut, the lead Democratic bargainer, said would be fully paid for
And they're going to make us pay for it no less.

These "Red Flag Laws" are without question, the most insidious contrivance of The Left in my lifetime. You see, they "don't eliminate due process," they just delay it. First, they take the guns from the "dangerous individual" (who could argue with that after Uvalde?), and then they give you the due process.

So, after a SWAT team kicks in your door and confiscates your property based entirely on hearsay, you get to hire a lawyer, take time off of work, show up in court and try to prove to a judge that although you have 15, 20, 30, guns, and 5,000, 10,000, 50,000 rounds of ammunition, you're not really a dangerous person. You're just an avid shooter. Of course, that's assuming that the SWAT team which confiscated your guns didn't kill you first.

That that that's ever happened before: ... story.html

And all of the usual suspects are there to say that this is no big deal. It is just another instance of communist style governance - "laws" to be used selectively against people they don't like.

Such is life in a post Constitutional USA.
